Thank you everyone who didn’t attack me right away knowing that in a certain context there could be a reason why I asked such a question. And for those who think I’m an homophobic jerk I’d like to apologize for not writing clearly enough in my post, thus causing this big misunderstanding. This meeting with my students was about how to handle controversial questions by the media. So I asked this sensitive question to see their reaction and how they would react. It was never intended as a joke. It may appear to be a joke so the atmosphere won’t be so tense. By in reality I want them to know that eventually, one day someone is gonna asked the same question whether you are gay or not, cuz ur now public figure. In this meeting many other hard questions had been thrown at the students as well, whether ur a virgin or not, whether you have paid to buy ‘likes’ on the internet, whether you have sexually harassed others, etc. So it was in this context I asked such a question. So I hope everyone understands the situation better now, and personally I’d like to clarify that I may be a jerk sometimes but I’m not homophobic and definitely have great respect for gay people, especially their hard fight for equality. I grew up in California and have learned all about the need to respect for the different races and sexual orientations. Personally, i have a close friend that is gay and is now married, adopted children and we even have dinner when they visit Hk. In Hk I have many gay friends as well as people who work with me. I posted it saying it was a “memorable“ day because it was my first time asking these controversial questions in public. I should have explained it better in my post. Sorry for the trouble I have caused, making people feeling upset. It was never my intention. Finally, if anybody knows me, then you will know I’m as liberal as it gets.
