【港鐵地震】黃唯銘首開腔:政治環境艱難 不能做專業工程師

港鐵沙中線醜聞持續發酵,五名港鐵高層相繼離職或提早退休,包括已辭職的港鐵工程總監黃唯銘。黃本身亦是現任香港工程師學會會長,黃唯銘今日(8日)下午向學會會員發出電郵,指如果沒有認真考慮,是不會輕易作出辭去港鐵一職的決定,但過去兩月在極度艱難的政治氣候下,令他未能做到一個專業工程師的工作。

政府昨日指,港鐵月前提交的相關工程圖則與獲屋宇署所批有嚴重偏差,批評港鐵工程團隊有不可推卸的責任,要求立即解除相關工程管理人員的職務。港鐵其後宣布重組管理團隊,工程總監黃唯銘及三名沙中線總經理級人員即時離職,行政總裁梁國權則提早退休。

《香港01》獲得黃唯銘向工程師學會會員發出的電郵,指大家從新聞報道都知道他已辭去港鐵一職,並指若沒有認真考慮,是不會輕易作出辭去港鐵一職的決定,但過去兩月在極度艱難的政治氣候下,令他未能做到一個專業工程師。

黃唯銘捲入沙中線醜聞,早前有立法會議員質疑黃是否仍能勝任工程師學會會長一職。黃在電郵中指,現時會以工程師身份投放更多時間參與社區事務,並致力做好今屆學會會長。工程師學會傍晚發出補充資料,指黃唯銘會長已致函所有學會會員,在他向港鐵辭職後將會全身投入會務事宜。

Dear Members,
I should have sent you this belated message earlier, however, I had a few urgent matters to handle this morning.
As you learnt from the news reports yesterday, I had resigned from MTR. The decision was not taken lightly without serious consideration but after more than two months in handling the site issues under an extremely difficult political environment, I found that I could no longer perform as what a professional engineer should be in my daily job.
My duty in the HKIE has always been divided from my daily job and now I am pleased to spend more time as an engineer in the community and more importantly, being able to contribute to the HKIE as the President of Session 2018/2019 with our executives and the Council.
I look forward to your continued support to the HKIE as a whole.
